Guests: invite the whole town or a select few?

Throughout my years of providing my DJ and MC services for over 500 wedding receptions, I've seen just about all there is to see at a wedding reception and can tell you that guests are as important as every other planned item on your to do list.

Guests are usually the unsung heroes, which can make or brake a wonderful wedding reception. Invite just a few and the event will seem to drag. Invite too many, expect delays to occur with everything planned. So... what can you do? What are some ideas to consider? Who will make the list? Where do you draw the line?

Well, it's a simple fact: people cost money, and venues hold only a certain amount of people. Combine the money-space issue with parental input, and the scene is set for an explosive engagement. Tread carefully -- the field is strewn with landmines. Calling a long-forgotten high school friend may suddenly turn into an epic battle over whether that person makes the cut. Instead, evaluate, negotiate, compromise, and be realistic.

I've included a few tips on creating your guest list and etiquette for your guests. Certainly, there's much more to consider, but at least you'll have a starting point. Good luck.....and if you get stuck, ask me for any additional examples or suggestions.
